MJ Research, Inc. is a leading biological technology
company based in Waltham, MA that focuses on developing
DNA sequencing instruments. MJ Research founded GCorp,
Inc., a company devoted to organizing a conference and
collection of papers from scientists around the country.
The annual symposium, located on Marco Island, FL, generates
support for the genome sector of the biotech industry.
Over a multiple-phase duration, Daphnia provided GCorp
with a single solution to several tasks associated with
the seminar. From a users' perspective, the site acts
as a forum, allowing scientists to register for the
conference, exchange abstracts, and preview seminars.
Administrators are provided with immediate access to
a variety of organizational data--most importantly attendee
information. Plus, the registration process was greatly
simplified as a result of the site's transaction feature,
in which users could register with their credit card.
Most components of the site utilized dynamic content,
requiring site-wide database access. A complete content
management system expedites the process of updating
and maintaining site text and image content. In addition
to the outer site, an internal web application allows
GCorp staff to harness the collected attendee data to
facilitate clerical duties like generating mailing lists,
organizing hotel reservations, and printing envelope
labels.
